Lynn D Cooley, 70, passed away February 5, 2017, in Moss Point, Mississippi. He was born September 5, 1946, in South Gate, California. He is preceded in death by his father, Robert Cooley. Although born in California, he called Pascagoula home for 46 years. He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Karen, mother, Thelma of Norfolk NE; five children, Kimaree (Lance) Kempner of Moss Point, MS, Chad Cooley of Gautier, MS, Kristen (Billy) Reidy of Ocean Springs, MS, Adam (Victoria) Cooley of Phenix City, AL, and Marysa (Dylan) Cooley of Pascagoula, MS; Six grandchildren, Kinzey, Riley, Logan, Khloe, Will, and Carson; and his four-legged children, Trixie and Charley; plus numerous friends and relatives. Lynn was a decorated Vietnam Veteran with the 173D Airborne Brigade. Before Vietnam, he was an active athlete in California. Some of his accomplishments include being all-state in baseball and all league in basketball. In his 43 years at Huntington Ingalls Shipbuilding, he served in many management positions. After 40 years, he became a Master Shipbuilder. His family would like to give a special thanks to the staff of Camellia and We Care Hospice. Pallbearers were Lance Kempner, Chad Cooley, Billy Reidy, Adam Cooley, Dylan Waldrep, and Don McArthur. Burial was conducted at Crestlawn Cemetery, Ocean Springs, MS

We were the first "Avengers", Ronnie Johnson, Lynn Cooley, Paul Douthitt, Tommy Coryell, and me. With our shirt's top button buttoned at our neck, and our shirts flapping in the breeze behind us like Superman's cape wink I'm gratified to read that you enjoyed a rich and rewarding life - I miss you dear friend.
