NEW REUNION WEB PAGE – OUR PHOTOS

A new page has been added to the reunion website - Our Photos.

The Our Photos page gives us the opportunity to share those old photos that we have enjoyed looking at for the past 50 years. Send us a copy of the photos and we’ll post them. We are looking for photos of you and our friends from the 50’s and 60’s, they can be black & white or color.

Email photos of you, you and your friends, you and your car, school events, social events, etc. To help us, please identify the people in the photo.

REUNION LODGING

We have been told that the nearby Embassy Suites hotel is now sold out for the reunion weekend. Monteleone Meadows, is located in the Temecula Valley, Southern California’s wine country.  Throughout the year the region is a popular destination for visitors and tourists. This is particularly true in November, when the wine harvest is celebrated. If you plan on staying at an area hotel during the reunion, you are encouraged to make you reservation soon.

For those traveling to the reunion by motorhome, only a few “no cost” RV sites remain available at Monteleone Meadows. There are some attractive RV parks in the area, but if you want to stay at Monteleone Meadows make your reservation now.

YOUR OLD PHOTOS NEEDED 

Post Photos on the Reunion Website

Get those ancient photos out of the bottom drawer of the night stand or from that dusty box in the garage and post them on the reunion website. Your classmates and friends want to see those black/white and faded color photos of “old” South Gate, as well as photos from our elementary, junior and senior high school years.

Are You a Vegetarian?

We have received inquiries regarding vegetarian meal preference from some classmates. Henni Monteleone, Monteleone Meadows, has assured us vegetarian guests will not leave hungry from our reunion events. If you prefer vegetarian fare, please help us by giving advance notice.

A number of classmates have been contacted, but are procrastinating and have not yet registered on the reunion website. If you are in contact with SGHS ’64 alumni and friends who have not yet logged on, encourage them to do so. You can provide them with the following log in instructions:

1. Go to http://www.southgate64.com/class_classmates.cfm, or click on http://www.southgate64.com/class_classmates.cfm, this will take you directly to our website.
2. On the tool bar on the left hand side of the screen there are a number of website pages shown, if you clicked on http://www.southgate64.com/class_classmates.cfm it will have taken you to the "Classmate Profiles" page, this is where you want to be.
3. On the "Classmate Profiles" page scroll down until you find your name. Click on your name. Under your photo you will find a "Join Here" box, click on the blue "click here now". The system will walk you through the steps to log in.

South Gate High School Class of ’64 & Friends Reunion Announced

Reunion Dates November 7 & 8, 2014

The South Gate High School Class of 1964 will have a reunion in recognition and celebration of its 50^th year since graduation. The event is not only for those graduating in ’64, but also enthusiastically welcomes the participation of friends from other South Gate High School classes.

The festivities will feature a “meet and greet” Friday evening, November 7, 2014 and the reunion on Saturday evening, November 8, 2014.

Monteleone Meadows

Reunion activities will take place at the marvelous Monteleone Meadows in Murrieta, California. Monteleone Meadows is owned by Mike and Hennie Monteleone. Mike is a SHGS ’63 graduate.

Reunion Website Launched

Positive Response to Website Launch

On April 19, 2014, the organizing committee unveiled the South Gate High School Class of ’64 & Friends Reunion website, www.southgate64.com.

This site was created to connect and re-connect with our classmates and school mates, including those who will be unable to attend the reunion activities. Those registered on the website have access to all website pages so reunion update information can be monitored. Also, those registered on the website can communicate with others that have registered. Our site is private! Check the website often, the site will grow as classmates add and submit materials for inclusion.

Everything you need to know about registering on the site, setting up a profile, and accessing site pages can be found in the website “Instructions for First Time Visitors” (http://www.southgate64.com/first-time.cfm) and “Classmate Profiles” (http://www.southgate64.com/class_classmates.cfm) sections. Help Find Missing Classmates

Crowd Sourcing to Find Missing Classmates

As discussed above, not all of our classmates shown on the website as “missing” are in fact missing. Your help is needed to find classmates with whom contact has not yet been established. We are going to crowd source this project. In each newsletter we will post the names of classmates not yet contacted and ask that the combined effort of all having registered be focused on locating these people to let them know about the reunion.

If you have contact information you can:

• Forward the information to us for follow up,
• or make contact yourself and direct the person to the reunion website.

Please let us know of any contact you make so everyone can be advised. How many missing classmatescan you find? Let’s see who is the super sleuth of the class of ’64.

Traveling to the Reunion in an RV?

Limited RV Parking at Monteleone Meadows 

Our initial reunion announcement advised of a limited number of RV spaces available at the reunion site. The response to this announcement has been positive and greater than anticipated. Half of the ten RV spaces have already been spoken for. If you are coming to the reunion in an RV and would like to park at the reunion site you are encouraged to make a reservation as soon as possible.
