I am sorry to say that Daylin Butler passed away in Maine after a brief illness. Daylin and I had been friends since we first met at South Gate Jr. High. We continued to keep in touch after high school. Our lives overlapped as students at USC and teachers at Cal State Hayward (now Cal State East Bay). Daylin earned a Ph.D. at the University of Michigan and went on to teach at Kanas State University, the University of Connecticut, and lastly the University of Maine, Augusta. He was an avid collector of classical music including classical rock. After nearly 70 years, I will greatly miss his friendship.
