Our oldest grandchild, Katie graduated from Berkeley in the "Class of 2014" and our youngest granddaughter, Sage, was born in April of 2014.

I enjoyed my youth in Southgate and still keep in touch with several of our classmates. I went on to Long Beach State and La Verne University. I started teaching in the Orange Unified School District in the 1968-69 school year. After forty years in the district and several positions, I retired as the Director of the Office of Child Welfare and Attendance. Melinda and I spend most of our time with our children and grandchildren. We have taken a few trips, including Italy, Paris, England and Scotland. There are many cities in America that we hope to see in the future.
School Story

There are so many classmates that I will always remember! I can only thank Tim, Terry, Flash, Russ, Mike, Pat and Albert for being such great friends all those years! As far as a funny memory, I will always remember the swats given by Mr. Johnson. He was strong, took a wind up of several steps and then tried to lift you off the ground. He even gave swats if your drafting pencil or eraser fell to the ground. One day, he looked up and told us to report to his class at the beginning of nutrition the next day. We were all there except Mike Ferragamo. He forgot. By class time, Mike had put on two pairs of Levis, four-five pairs of gym shorts. When the swat was delivered, all we heard was a small thud rather than the booming wack! There was a smile on Mike's face and we were all laughing inside, but would not show our reaction in fear that we would be the next to get a swat! In fairness to Mr. Johnson, he was one of the best teachers that I ever had and he inspired me to become a drafting teacher.

Dear Peggy,

I spent all day going through old photographs. I found two from Saint Paul's Elementary School. I see you in one of the pictures, but not the other. I still have one more somewhere where I put it for safe keeping to send you. Hopefully, I will find it soon. The other picture has names associated with the faces. See how many of these classmates you remember and let me know. I have it in my head that you and I were the only ones who went on to Southgate High! I am probably wrong!

Peggy,

I don't know if you remember me. It has been a long time since we have seen each other. Russ Daly contacted me recently and wanted to know if I went to St. Paul's Elementary School. I told him that you and I went to Elementary, Junior High School and High School together. In fact, you have always been special to me because you are the only one that I can remember attending St. Paul's and later graduating in our class of 64. Were there others?

Unfortunately, I will not be able to make lunch this month with Russ, you and others. I definitely will be there next month and I am excited about seeing all of you. I made contact with Tim Bellinger and Pat Omera and I believe they will be there.

I hope you remember me and I look forward to seeing you soon.
